Film about Roos and Martin, who are divorced but haven’t become detached yet. When their 17-year old son Isaac withdraws ever deeper into silent isolation, they try to find a solution. Their attempts fail due to their frustrations from the past and their inability to listen to one another.

Before studying at the Dutch Film Academy, Mijke de Jong attended the College for Social Work. Her interest in social issues is an important theme in her films and her subtle directing of the actors characterises her films. She makes films for cinema and television. She debuted with the film IN KRAKENDE WELSTAND (1988). In 1993 she directed HARTVERSCHEUREND (1993) which received the Golden Leopard Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Filmfestival. In 1997 she directed BRITTLE (1997) for which the five main actresses received a Golden Calf for their acting performance. In 1999 she made EXPELLED which received the San Francisco Golden Gate Award and the Dutch Academy Award for Best Actor. For television she made children’s series such as I AM WILLEM (2002 and 2005). Her film BLUEBIRD (2004) received the Crystal Bear for best children’s film at the Berlin Film Festival.
