On a bitter winter night in Harbin, a boy loses his beloved cards. To ease his anger, he turns to mischief as a form of rebellion. But as each act of defiance gives way to the relentless return of violence—like the unending winter wind—he begins to realize he is caught in a cycle he cannot escape.

Qu Jingkai, born in 2000 in Inner Mongolia, graduated from the Beijing Film Academy. Driven by a curiosity for the world, he weaves his travel experiences into his filmmaking. His short film Kleptomania was selected for the 76th Berlinale Shorts competition.
