The end of the week brings us the 30th Split Film Festival, which has prepared 57 films and videos from 29 countries around the world for its anniversary edition. The festival of uncompromising artistic and auteur film and video awaits us from Friday, September 12th to Tuesday, September 16th, 2025. The festival will officially open on Friday at 9 pm at the Karaman cinema. In addition to two previously well-known locations, the Karaman cinema and the Zlatna vrata cinema, where films from two competitions (short and feature films) will be screened, the STFF screen will also be raised at the Kvart Gallery in Trstenik, the Academia Club Ghetto, and a special screening will be held a few days after the festival on the farm, as part of the Farm house.
7 films will be screened in the feature film competition, while the short film program brings 18 titles, including 16 Croatian premieres. In addition to the main programs, the following stand out: Focus (films with a focus on social issues), Dunjine noći (a festival dedicated to feminist film), Forum (feature films out of competition), Spotlight (films with an emphasis on the author), a program of Croatian films and a program of new media. During the festival, visitors to the Kvart Gallery will be able to view an exhibition by Dutch artist and jury member Thomas Mohr, while the Golden Gate Loggia will display a selection of works from the new media category. Furthermore, random and intentional passers-by will be able to learn about the history of STFF through archive posters in the Diocletian’s Palace Cellars and recall the most memorable moments from its thirty-year existence.
This year’s visual identity is signed by designer Segor Garber, the trailer is a product of Darko Škrobonja with the editing signature of Dragan Đokić, and the new festival award is created by sculptor Boris Šitum.
In the spirit of the birthday, all film screenings will be free, with early arrival. The box office opens an hour before the screenings. For all information, the information desk in the Golden Gate Loggia will be available (working hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
