Mother of a Son – Kevin Koch

One year after her son died as the perpetrator in a school shooting, MARTHA (54), his mother, visits his grave for the first time. When she encounters the grieving mother of one of the victims, she leaves instantly. Desperate to escape the identity that binds her to this tragedy, she thinks of changing her name.

Kevin Koch

Kevin is a writer and director based in Berlin and Ludwigsburg. He studied Media Science at the University of Bayreuth and has been studying directing at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg since 2020, including an exchange at La Fémis in Paris. His short PRINCE DE LA VILLE premiered at Sarajevo Film Festival and was nominated for the Young C. Award at CIVIS Media Prize. OUT OF THE BLUE premiered at Hof International Film Festival, while MOTHER OF A SON celebrated its world premiere in the International Competition at Clermont-Ferrand 2026. Kevin is currently developing his first feature film DOGWHISTLE (WT).
