FILM MUTATION:THE FESTIVAL OF INVISIBLE CAMERA-Tanja Vrvilo

International curatorial film festival Film Mutations: The Festival of Invisible Cinema was initiated in Zagreb in 2007 in collaboration with some of the most influential film curators: Raymond Bellour, Nicole Brenez, Alexander Horwath, Kent Jones, Adrian Martin and Jonathan Rosenbaum. The aim was to create a platform for an internationally connected discourse on film culture which would actualize innovative ideas in the cinema; ideas that have been missing or need to be (re)discovered.
The project was inspired by these authors’ exchange of epistolary essays on changing cartography of contemporary cinema, published in the book Movie Mutations: The Changing Face of World Cinephilia.
We will show part of the last year’s program entitled Visual Pamphlets: Milestones and Actualities, curated by French film theorists Nicole Brenez: the short interventionist films by Collective Outrage & Rebellion, the joint labor of 44 authors, from the project created as a protest against police brutality, when young director Joachim Gatti was seriously injured.
Film Mutations will be presented by an artistic director Tanja Vrvilo.
