An experimental film set in the late 2000s featuring a payphone booth at an all-girls Catholic school, as it stands witness to the intimate performance of its callers vis-a-vis the telephony political scandal of Former Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Raia Miranda
Raia Miranda is a 23-year old queer filmmaker from Pasig City, Philippines. She is currently in her final year of attaining a bachelor’s degree in Film at the University of the Philippines Film Institute. Her works are influenced by her personal encounters and musings on human nature; how it manifests in love, loneliness, and girlhood.
Under the mentorship of award-winning screenwriter-director Giancarlo Abrahan (I’m Drunk, I Love You [2017], Dagitab [2014]), Raia’s strongest suit is writing. This also led her to being under the wing of another award-winning screenwriter-director for her internship, Antoinette Jadaone (Sunshine [2024], Fan Girl [2020]). She has produced two student short films, one of which was able to gain national recognition for being a grantee of the Film Development Council of the Philippines or FDCP’s Student Film Assistance Program.
