Zaljev – Paula Skelin

The author seeks to understand her divorced parents, who live alone on the southern Croatian coast, on the Čiovo peninsula. By capturing their daily lives and the atmosphere of the island, she enters into a dialogue with them, expressing curiosity about both her own and their past traumas. Through these conversations, answers begin to surface—things the author hadn’t had the chance to hear until the filming process. As the island shifts with the seasons, weather, and occasional catastrophes, she gradually opens a raw emotional space—one shaped by shared trauma, loneliness, and confusion.
