Balaton – Balázs Szövényi-Lux

Balaton in the summertime is the biggest touristic sight in Hungary. But when winter comes, all the towns get empty. A young Hungarian man and a Ukrainian woman meet accidentally in the shadow of the ongoing Ukrainian war. Both of them are lonely and dealing with different issues. Connection is difficult, language falters, and paths easily diverge.

Balázs Szövényi-Lux

Balázs Szövényi-Lux (1990) was born in Hungary, and has lived in several countries including Spain, Scotland, and the USA. He graduated as a film director from the University of Edinburgh. He likes to focus on personal stories, looking at the individual dealing with universal issues. His latest projects include a documentary on sustainable coffee production shot in Nicaragua and El Salvador.
