Pillow of Dreams lies at the intersection of video installation and object-based intervention, proposing a visual investigation into the dematerialization of the dream experience. The project revolves around the possibility of giving a physical dimension to the intangible, transforming the everyday object into a receptacle of memory and the unconscious. The work explores the bed not only as domestic furniture, but as a liminal space and sanctuary of ontological vulnerability, where the subject’s perception is fragmented and linear logic is suspended in favour of symbolic narrative. Using found footage as a methodology for narrative construction. Through the appropriation and re-editing of visual archives, a dialectical collage is established that emulates the processes of free association of the mind in a state of rest.
Eric del Castillo
Eric del Castillo (Mexico City, 1962) is a multimedia artist who works with different discursive platforms, perceiving contemporary culture and every part of it as a warehouse of information from which he selects fragments of images and objects and intervenes them to create new relational networks and environments. Since 1987, he has exhibited at twenty solo and over a hundred group exhibitions. He received a fellowship from (FONCA), Mexico and (NEA), USA for a residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts, San Francisco in 1996. He is a member of HULU Split. Lives and works in Split.
