Nothing Grows on Salt – Fernando Vandekeybus

A young woman tries to recover from a profound traumatic experience by retreating into a self-created internal world, far away from the harsh medieval reality in which she finds herself day by day. But as a forgotten secret emerges, she is drawn to confront the truth of who she truly is.

Director

Fernando Vandekeybus

Fernando Vandekeybus (1995) is a filmmaker from Brussels, currently completing his film studies at KASK School of Arts in Ghent. Before turning to film, he studied Philosophy – a background that still shapes how he approaches storytelling. His work often moves between the surreal and the political, the poetic and the grotesque, with a strong focus on inner worlds, memory, and love in all its forms. He’s in the final stages of Nothing Grows on Salt, a textured, introspective film that explores themes of memory and control through dance, symbolic imagery, and a fractured reality.
