31. STFF Submission Open

The Split Film Festival has opened submissions for its 31st edition, which will take place in Split, Croatia, in September 2026.

The festival invites filmmakers, producers and distributors to submit feature-length and short films, as well as experimental and innovative audiovisual works, regardless of length, form or genre. The submission deadline is 15 June 2026, and submissions are accepted exclusively via the FilmFreeway platform, with a mandatory online screener.Croatian productions and co-productions may be submitted free of charge via the official festival website.

Founded in 1996, the Split Film Festival (International Festival of New Film) is the oldest international film and media festival in Croatia. From its inception, the festival has been dedicated to experimental, author-driven and innovative cinematic practices, with a strong emphasis on personal vision and the exploration of film language.

Over nearly three decades of continuous activity, the festival has presented works from leading international festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale and Rotterdam, alongside lesser-known but contextually significant films from around the world, many of them screened as Croatian premieres.

The festival programme is structured around international feature and short film competitions, complemented by a range of curated programme sections exploring contemporary, hybrid and expanded cinematic practices. Programme sections include Forum, Focus, Spotlight, Rural, New Media and the AI Programme. All submitted works are considered not only for the competition programmes, but also for other programme sections, in accordance with their artistic, thematic and formal characteristics.

Further information about the festival and submission guidelines is available on the official Split Film Festival website and via the festival’s FilmFreeway profile.
